Easy Champagne Sangria

Is it just me, or does winter seriously suck this year? Okay, I’m pretty sure it’s not just me. I was feeling down in the winter dumps the other day, so I decided to make this awesome champagne sangria for my boyfriend’s birthday party. It may have been snowy outside, but it felt like Cabo on the inside!

Once again, I got this recipe from the lovely Kristin at Iowa Girl Eats. She seriously has some of the best and easiest recipes!

Champagne Sangria

You will need:

  • 1 orange
  • 1 pomegranate
  • 4 kiwis
  • 1 bottle of sweet Riesling
  • 1 bottle of Brut champagne
  • 1 1/2 cup orange juice

Start out by de-seeding your pomegranate. An easy way to do this is to cut it in half, and then pulling out the seeds under water – this helps them separate from the pith more. After you’re done, strain them and put them aside.

Doesn't this just make you want to be on a beach somewhere? I hate winter.

Next, slice your orange. It’ll look super pretty, like this:

Did you know oranges are actually in season right now? Maybe December isn't too bad.

Then, slice your kiwis. Make sure to slice off the skin first, but try to get as close to the kiwi as possible, so you don’t lose too much fruit.

Yum.

Yum.

Now you can combine all of them and mix them up.

I could just eat this the way it is!

Next, pour the Riesling into a pitcher or a punch bowl. Make sure that it’s sweet Riesling! I used Chateau Ste. Michelle’s famous one. It’s pretty good and not expensive.

And I'm from Washington, gotta support my local economy!

Then you can go ahead and add the fruit into the pitcher or bowl.

Almost done!

Almost done!

Let it sit anywhere from 2 to 24 hours. When you’re ready to serve, pour in the whole bottle of champagne and the 1 1-2 cup of orange juice. Mix it together and then serve!

I'm sure this would've been a big hit at the party if we didn't drink most of it first.

And you’re done! This was so easy to make and not too expensive, either – I’ll definitely be making it again!

The Easiest Way To Clean Your Toilet

Today we’re getting into the nitty gritty of adulthood: cleaning the bathroom.

This is something I struggled with for most of my teenage years, until I went to college and suddenly couldn’t stand even a small speck of dirt on my shower. It probably had something to do with the fact that it was the first time in my life I didn’t have housekeepers to clean my bathroom for me. That probably makes me sound spoiled, but whatever, it’s the truth. In any case, I had to learn pretty fast how to clean up after myself, and also after my two dorm mates, because they sure didn’t clean anything.

Now, I’m a bathroom cleaning pro! I must admit that living in a party house makes it difficult, but I manage. Please ignore how gross my toilet looked beforehand, I live with three men, who as you probably guessed, also never clean. My bathroom at my mom’s house in Seattle looks like a hotel bathroom. Seriously.

Anyway, for today’s post, I give you: How to clean your toilet. This is a super easy method and takes only about 2 minutes of actual work. I decided to make this post into a Zeega, but unfortunately WordPress isn’t letting me embed it, so click the picture below to see the post!
